Going into the Age of the Fractal
a little story about everything

written and illustrated by Mikis Mazarakis

with fractal art by Sven Geier
and fractal animation by Dinkydau

This story does not begin with
In the beginning

since In the beginning implies
that once upon a time, there was a beginning

There was no beginning
has never been a beginning
will never be
a beginning

But there has been time
which is why this story will begin with…

Once upon a time…
…there was a
place
…and this place was a
point
…and this place, this point was
love
…and this love, was
energy…

An illustration by Mikis Mazarakis. A blue, black and grey circular shape, with a pattern similar to to the oceans and land of the planet earth in front of a grey, white and black background with a soft texture, looking almost as if it were knitted. Inside the circle are three triangles. Two of them have the same size and make out a six pointed star by lying on top of each other, one of them yellow and the other one blue. The third triangle is a bit smaller, light yellow, and embedded in the two bigger triangles, pointing down.

…and once you have imagined
the energy
of you and me
and of all the others on this planet,
like you and me
and of every
tree
and of every other creature
in this place of
eternity and unity
then imagine the energy stored in
our planet
and the energy of every other planet circulating around
our sun
and then imagine the energy in every one of all the one hundred billion suns of
our galaxy
and in every single one of all the one hundred billion galaxies
of our
universe
and the energy in every single one of the one hundred billion
neurons
of our
brain
and the energy in every single one of all the fifty trillion
cells
of our
organism

Then imagine a point
a point so small, that a single grain of sand
would be the universe in comparison

Then imagine that everything physical,
everything of the material dimension of the universe
and all the energy contained in everything in this physical universe
was once upon a time
inside
this tiny,
tiny
point

and another once upon a time,
a very short while after the other
once upon a time

it just happened so
that this point
this tiny tiny point
came to the point
where it had to burst

the boiling point
had reached its
boiling point

and the point became
explosion

and so it happened
that time

and space
and the physical universe
as we know it
was born

and it grew

and grew fast

an abundance of hydrogen
together with
helium
became
stars

the hydrogen of the stars
made
oxygen, made radium
carbon
, carbondioxide

and these came together and made planets

and on the planets they made water
that flowed
earth to grow
and they made
trees to grow

they made cells

and these cells behaved quite similarly
to ourselves

and the cells came together
and made organisms
and the organisms
organized
and grew
into
fish

amphibia

reptiles, birds

mammals, humans

and the humans were one
with nature and the universe
and everything

and then the humans changed
they were changed
manipulated
into thinking that they are separated
from nature and the universe
and everything

thousands of years passed
of human slavery
but then the humans changed
they were changed
manipulated
into realizing that their true nature
had been forgotten,
buried
and needed to be be brought back
into their lives
so that once more,
they could become one
with nature and the universe
and everything

and so the humans looked up into the stars
trying to understand where they came from
where they were going

and the humans looked into
every little thing
trying to understand
where they came from

where they were going

and out in the stars
they discovered

light

and out in the stars
they discovered that time

and
space
were pliable
like
bubble gum

and out in the stars
they saw
expansion

they saw the movement from

from

from

farther and farther away

away from
away from every other piece of
matter.

and out in the stars they found
the same
energy that has always been around,
forever
.

And when the humans looked in
instead of
out
into every little thing
they discovered that
every thing

every little thing
were made of even smaller things
and these very very small things
were made of even smaller things

protons

neutrons

electrons

and all these trons
were behaving a bit different
than the behaviour that the humans were used to

and in these protons, neutrons, electrons
the humans found even smaller things

and the humans called them quarks,
probably because these quarks
had a quite awkward
way of behaving

not a behaviour that the humans
were accustomed to

and then the humans discovered
that these things
were not things

these things that we
and everything around us
is made of
aren’t really things

these nothings, they change
they flow, kind of like waves,
and they stretch
farther than space allows
they are entangled
with every other wave
that make up every other thing
and these things change
these waves change

they change
when we observe them

they transform into things, into particles
into peculiar particles
if particles is what we
want to see

and they transform into waves
into weird waves
if waves is what we
want to see

and observe
was something the humans did a lot
which means they changed a lot

everything that they observed
they changed

and out in the sky
there was a lot of emptiness

actually,
there was mostly emptiness

nothing there

except for something

and inside,
deep inside every little thing,

there was mostly emptiness

nothing there

except for something

because when we say that out there, there is nothing
we forget something

we forget that there is no nothing
there is nothing that is nothing

in the emptiness of space are things

in the emptiness deep inside every little thing,
there are things

in the nothingness of space
is the reflection
of
existence

and in every single one
of those quite awkward quarks
there are even tinier things
things are like quite awkward
little strings

and the vibrations of these strings
produce the manifestation of energy
which is what we call “things” -
matter

and out in the sky the humans discovered holes

black holes

big black holes

what are they doing,
these black holes?

why are there black holes in our universe?
asked the humans

why are there black holes
eating up our universe?

why are there black holes
devouring
every single thing
that crosses their way?

where are their mouths?

where are their heads
and bodies?

the black holes had no body
but they had a force
and this force, the humans thought,
this force, we can give the name
gravity

as a matter of fact,
not just the black holes
but also every other thing in the universe
possessed this force,
this gravity

and the strength of gravity was directly related
to the size and density
of matter

and the black holes may not have a body
but they used to
because the black hole
used to be
a star

a star so big
with a force of gravity so strong
that the atoms of the star
could no longer resist
the pressure from this force, this gravity,
that was pulling every atom of the star
inwards
towards its core

and so the star collapsed
shrank

into itself
the matter compressed
into a point so small
that one could almost believe
that it was nothing

and the black holes were thirsty
hungry
growing

and in the nothingness of space,
where lies the reflection of existence

one will find that this universe has a twin sister
and in this twin sister universe
everything is just like here
but reverse

three dimensions of space
is three dimensions of time

one dimension of time
is one dimensions of space

for every single thing
in this physical universe

in this physical existence
there is a twin sister

and for every twin universe
there is another twin universe

and for every twin - twin universe
there is another twin - twin universe

and for every twin - twin - twin universe
there is another twin - twin - twin universe

and so on

and when this physical universe is expanding
matter is pulled apart
it gets colder

the heat in which our physical universe was once cooked
spreading out at such long distances that it can feel quite cold
and getting colder
and the matter that is being pulled
further and further apart
will come to a point
but not a point as in the point

in which the physical universe was once created
but to a point
in the sense of a point in time
where expansion
will reverse
will inverse

implosion

and at the same point in time
that our physical universe goes from explosion to implosion
our twin sister universe will go from implosion
to explosion,
our physical universe will inverse
matter being pulled together
instead of spreading apart

and time will become space
and space will become time

and it will all come to a point
and this time meant as in both the point
in which our physical universe was created
and a point in time
where matter no longer exists

only energy

and in this energy

An image of computer generated fractal artwork by Sven Geier picturing a very thin and fine pattern of soft, glowing and turquoise waves of light, centered around a bright point to which all the waves are connected. The background is black, which makes the pattern look almost like a jellyfish of light swimming in a sea of darkness.

we will still be able to find
humanity

but in order to grasp how humanity
will still exist
when our physical universe
has transformed into a point so tiny
that a single grain of sand
would be the universe in comparison
one needs to see that humanity
is an organization
of humans
and that humans
are organisms
and organisms
are organizations
of cells

and when the cells go together
they are working in a process precisely similar
to the process working
when humans
come together

the humans will not,
cannot,
come together
by getting tied up

but
the humans have an ability to
unify
without tying anyone’s hands

the humans can look at themselves
from outside
and this ability
is the mother to question
and question
is the mother to understanding
and understanding
is the mother
to our inside universe,
the
mind

the perception of the outside universe
is the architect that constructs
the inside universe

and as this construction is growing
getting bigger
getting in better
coherence
with the outside universe
the less dependent we become
of the outside universe,

the physical universe
the less dependent we become
of matter

so when the physical universe comes to the point
where it no longer expands,
matter will inverse

and thereafter,
cease to exist,
and the inside universe, the mind
will then have come to the point

where we
every organism
on this planet
in this universe
is connected,
unified

humanity connected
in the universe of the mind

and when the unification is complete
humanity, together with every other organism
in the physical universe,
has become creators,

humanity
will then have
iterated

and when our physical universe
has come to that point
of iterated creation
our twin sister universe
will have become a point,
just like the point
in which our physical universe
was once created

and when our twin sister universe has come to that point
that point in time, and space, where it is ready to explode

we, as creators,
as iterated creation,
will drop

one drop

into this point,
this pond of inversed existence,
this grain of nothing but energy

and the drop that we,
the creators,
will drop into this pure point
of pure energy
is the result from the final
insight

the insight of all insights

the insight that is required
in order to complete
the unification of the mind

the one mind
with one insight

and the result of this insight will be the drop
that will be dropped
into the twin sister universe
of our universe
and thus make the pure point of pure energy

that is that twin universe

explode

and the cycle will continue

all the time

always
forever

with the same amount of energy
that has always,
forever,
been around

and when we have come to that point
where we are unified,
every human, every organism
in our physical universe,
we will be able to release ourselves

from matter

we
will then be
our inner universe

we
will then no longer need
the outer universe

so that we
will not be touched

by the implosion,
the inversion of space
and time

we
are then
the energy
from which we
were once created

and the only insight
that can keep all of this energy together
is the insight of infinity

and infinity
will give birth
to the drop
that will be dropped

and this drop is the only piece of energy
in all of existence
that requires no energy
to be born

this drop
is the drop
that will give birth
but has never been born

this drop provides everything
and needs never be provided for

and this drop
is what we call
love
